The leaves show off their beautiful red and orange hues, the air chills you, and the daylight fades quickly. ’Tis the season when a delicious Fall cocktail is everything you need to get into the colors and flavors of the season. These Fall cocktails are the perfect complement to holiday parties, Fall dinner parties, or even an intimate meal with family and friends. Here are five Fall-inspired cocktails you need to try:

1. Mulled Wine

Mulled wine is incredibly easy to make, and you don’t need any special ingredients. There’s something about combining wine with mulling spices that just makes you feel comfortable. You can make this with a dry red wine of your choice, such as a merlot or malbec.

4 whole cloves

2 cinnamon sticks

3 star anise pods

Juice and zest of 1 orange

1/4 cup honey

Orange slices and peels

Combine the, wine, honey, cinnamon sticks, orange juice and zest, cloves, and star anise in a large saucepan. Bring to a boil and simmer on medium-low heat for 10 minutes. Serve warm and garnish with orange peel and slices.

2. Spiced Apple Hot Toddy

This spiked hot toddy drink will do the trick on a chilly Fall night and warm you up without fail.

1 1/2 ounces apple brandy

1 cup warm water

1/2 ounce fresh lemon juice

1 tablespoon honey

Cinnamon sticks

Dissolve the honey in the warm water. Add the brandy and lemon juice. Serve warm and garnish with cinnamon sticks.

3. Hot Buttered Rum

Hot buttered rum is another classic hot cocktail that’s creamy and comforting and can help you forget the chilly temps outside.

1 1/2 tablespoons melted butter

1 tablespoon brown sugar

1 1/2 ounces dark rum

Pinch of ground cinnamon

Pinch of ground nutmeg

1 splash vanilla extract

8 ounces bourbon

3 cinnamon sticks

2 whole cloves

2 whole peppercorns

Cinnamon sticks for garnish

Combine the cider and spices in a small saucepan over low heat until the mixture just reaches a simmer. Remove from heat and stir in bourbon. Serve warm in mugs, and garnish with cinnamon sticks.

5. Pumpkin Pie Martini

The liquid version of this dessert is way better than a slice of pie. It’s all the richness and sweetness of the pie, complemented with the rum and vodka. You can make this martini with vanilla vodka, but you can use pumpkin spice vodka if you want to bring out more of the pumpkin flavor.

2 ounces vanilla or pumpkin spice vodka

1 ounce dark rum

1/2 ounce half and half

1 tablespoon pumpkin puree

1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract

Whipped cream

Cinnamon sticks

Ice cubes

In a shaker, combine rum, half and half, pumpkin puree, vanilla extract, and ice. Shake well and strain into a martini glass. Garnish with whipped cream and cinnamon sticks.
