Mother’s Day is around the corner, so it’s time to start planning for Mom’s special day. If you’re not quite sure how to maximize Mother’s Day fun, here are some activities we think will make this year memorable:
1. Wine Tasting
Whether your mom is a wineaux or a casual wine drinker, a wine tasting is always a fun event. If your mom appreciates upscale ambience, take her to Vin Sur Vingt on the Upper West Side for a decadent French pastry and wine tasting experience.
Or maybe she likes being on the water with the wind blowing through her hair. Book a classy wine tasting mom won’t forget, aboard a schooner cruise in the New York harbor. She can sip wine and unwind while enjoying the scenic city views.
If your mom likes wine and she’s creative, take her to a sip and paint class, where she might just paint a masterpiece. Groupon has great deals for sip and paint classes all over NYC.
2. Mother’s Day Dinner
You can plan a special dinner for mom’s day, either at her favorite restaurant or a new one. And don’t forget the show. From the movie theater, to a concert by her favorite band, to Cirque du Soleil’s latest installment, to a Broadway show, there’s an option for every price point.
3. Relaxation Time
Maybe your mom deserves some relaxation time. Treat her to a mani/pedi that day, or if you really want to wow her, opt for a massage or a full spa day to take the relaxation to a higher level. A little pampering and rejuvenation is a great way to say “I love you.” Check Groupon for spa deals so you can book early, or check out Haven spa in NoHo, with amazing packages designed for the ultimate indulgence. You can even book a “Mommy and Me” package so you can luxuriate alongside her. It’s a win-win!
Mother’s Day brunch is the perfect go-to, because let’s face it, brunch just does not disappoint. Mimosa anyone? With so many cute brunch spots all over the city, it’s hard not to find a venue you like.
Hornblower Cruises New York is hosting a Mother’s Day Jazzy Champagne Brunch cruise on May 12, featuring a delicious buffet, unlimited mimosas and sangria, and a live jazz band. They even have an option to include roses with your booking. You KNOW you wanna get those roses.
You can pack your own brunch, take it outside, and combine it with sunshine, greenery and beautiful blooms at the New York Botanical Garden. NYBG will host a weekend garden party from May 11-12, complete with live music, outdoor games and picnicking while surrounded by beautiful daffodils.
The Queens Botanical Garden will host a farm-to-table brunch on May 12. Tickets include garden admission, so after you fill up on brunch you can stroll through the garden and take in the blooms. And to top it off, you can take a professional photo in the Wedding Garden with mom on her special day.
Whatever your mom’s into, you’re sure to find something that will make her feel special!
